Noteworthy events from 2021 Spring Week 08

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Jerry R had the only perfect 80.
  2. Julian F and Tim B each had a 77.
  3. Lito G shot a 74.
  4. The Cue Quest team held Kevin C to his lowest score of the season.

RAFFLE Status:

A tale of two Scotts:

  1. The Dennis version broke on Table 09, made a ball on the break, and then secured the 1-ball successfully into the southwest pocket.  He quickly cashed out before anyone tried to convince him to go for the now difficult 2-ball (although it might not have been as tough if Dennis had planned a little ahead).  He was happy with the result!!
  2. The Paul version utilized the same racking technique on Table 08 and also made a ball on the break.  However, the cue ball was just south of the northeast corner pocket and the 1-ball was about one third of the west rail away from the southwest corner pocket.  There was consideration to bank the 1-ball off that rail such that it would kick the nearly-hanging 5-ball into the south side pocket, but Paul chose to cut into the corner and missed it.

OTHER:

  1. Irony heading into the final week of competition this season:
    • The top four teams in the standings are now each within 27 points of each other heading into the final week of competition.  Ironically, none of them will play against each other.
    • The 2nd set of four teams in the standings are now each within 16 points of each other and none of THEM will play against each other either.
    • The final two teams in the standings are now within 21 points of each other and they are not opposing each other either.
    • Bottom line: Nobody has control of their own destiny!
  2. There was only one player-absence this week and 7 teams fielded all of their regulars.
  3. The Cubs apparently and quietly threw a combined no-hitter against the Dodgers!!  They used more pitchers than were served by Jen B from behind the bar!!!
