Noteworthy events from 2021 Summer Week 02

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Mike H scored a perfect 80.
  2. Brian N finished with 77.
  3. Mike B shot a 74 – the best possible score when losing two games.  So it’s kind of like perfect, but not quite.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Julian F had a strong Table 03 break which sank the 1-ball and 3-ball.
    • The 2-ball was just south of where the head spot would be.
    • The cue ball had a clear path to it, but was not easily reached by Julian.
    • The 4-ball and 9-ball had an approximate 7-inch separation partnership near the foot spot – with 4-ball destined for the northwest corner pocket.
    • The 5-ball was an easy duck in the southeast corner pocket.
    • Julian chose to stretch body and soul along the southwest rail and sank the 2-ball into the northeast corner.  The cue-ball caromed as planned against the foot rail, but landed too far west causing the 9-ball to interfere with a clean shot on the 4.  He therefore cashed out with 1/3 of the pot.
  2. Kevin C was selected and broke dry on Table 08.  He resentfully noted that the 1-ball was an easy target into the northwest corner pocket.
  3. The remaining raffle pot rolls over to Week 03.

OTHER:

  1. Nuthin’ But a Stroke, a team that won three consecutive league titles in 2020, returned to 1st place for the first time since then.  Oddly, their top shooter this week was a ghost!
  2. Sharon C played her first league match since at least five years ago and tallied a 61.
  3. Four different players lost only 1 game on the night.
    • Brian N and Mark H can each thank Nancy K for the imperfection
    • Kevin C and Jerry W were the other two “victims”
  4. Feed the Elephants didn’t secure the beer in the trunk and doused their envelope and score sheet.  Fortunately, a big fan pitched in to dry them out.
