Noteworthy events from 2022 Spring Signup Night

The official signup for the general public resulted in 10 teams enrolled.
As of the very next day, now we have 12.

If any other individuals or teams are interested to join in, please notify the venue (Shooter’s Sports Bar and Billiards, Grayslake Illinois) before Tuesday, 26Apr2022::7:00pm.  The venue will, in turn, notify the league operator by the final deadline of 8pm on the same night.

The season’s match play officially begins on Thursday, 28Apr2022 at 7:30pm.  Rostered individuals who have not yet paid their $15 ACS Sanctioning fee (see rule #2) will need to do so at the time they play their first match this season.

The nine captains/delegates at the meeting participated in a rule change discussion/debate/vote. Only one change to the rules was chosen.
Rule 20.C.i (which describes how to adjust for one missing player) will now read as follows:
The team members in attendance (fillers) will play the absentee’s games. In this scenario, each filler will play two games on behalf of the absentee against a single opponent as chosen by the opponent’s captain or delegate.  The 4th opponent will play one game each against the two fillers with the lowest average.
A new sub-point was also added for the scenario where both teams are missing one player:
If both teams have only three active players, then option 20.C.i above applies with the exception that the home team’s captain or delegate gets to pick the match ups. “Home team” is defined as the team identified on the left side of the scoresheets.
The rationale for the rule change above is to reduce scoresheet confusion on who-plays-who and to expedite match play because most of the full team’s players will play both games against only one filler.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Nancy K broke dry on Table 08.
  2. Tim B broke dry on Table 07.
  3. The raffle pot rolls over to opening week.

OTHER:

  1. John E is returning after having missed a few seasons.
  2. Tony C is returning after have missed many years.
  3. Six players are on the rosters will have their first game this season become their league debuts.
  4. Other topics that were discussed but not adopted in the rules included:
    • When an absence causes a team’s handicap to change, the opposing team should get the inverse of that change applied to their final score.  For example if rule 4.B causes the team handicap to change from 28 to 20 total points (a reduction of 8 points), then the opposing team should get an additional 8 points for their handicap calculation.  Similarly, if the absentee’s team handicap increased by 16 points from 24 to 40, then the opponent team’s total handicap would be reduced by 16 points.  This rule proposal was voted down.
    • Someone proposed elimination of the 15 point penalty when a team is missing two players – resulting in a vote to keep the rule unchanged.
