Noteworthy events from 2022 Spring Week 02

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Among the entire league this season, Scott C shot the 1st perfect 80.
  2. Kevin C and Mike B each had a 77.
  3. Mona T scored 74.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Wes P broke dry on Table 13.
  2. Sean B sank a ball on his Table 04 break.  The cue-ball rested in the kitchen with a clear shot on the 1-ball. Sean had a choice between a thin cut into the south side or a fuller cut into a longer shot to the southwest corner.  He tried the side… and sighed.
  3. The raffle pot rolls over to Week 03.

OTHER:

  1. The new rule for substitution play directly affected four different teams – two of whom played against each other.  Mixed feelings and reactions were expressed thus far.
    • Improvement suggestion for the 3 on 3 scenario: the missing player on each team has its games played as selected by that team’s captain – not by the home team.  For example, for Mike’s team their captain chooses Mike to play 2 games against Lito, Mark 2 against Romy, and Ed 2 against Wes.  For the 4th match, the two with the lowest average on Mike’s team play one game each against the two lowest averages on the opposing team.  And for Wes’s team, their captain chooses Wes to play 2 against Mark, Lito 2 against Ed, and Romy 2 against Mike.  For the 4th match, the two with the lowest average on Wes’s team play one game each against the two lowest averages on Mike’s team.
    • Improvement suggestion for all scenarios: figure out the schedule before the first match is played and time things compassionately so that no player is forced to play six consecutive games.
  2. Jeremy B returned to the league after a long absence.
  3. Robert S made his league debut and scored 64 against I Know This Shot.
  4. It was Cinco de Mayo and exactly 40 of the 384 games had someone who scored exactly five points.
