The official signup for the general public concluded with 15 teams enrolled. If it remains at this quantity, there will be a BYE week scheduled for each team.
If any other individuals or teams are interested to join in, please notify the venue (Shooter’s Sports Bar and Billiards, Grayslake Illinois) before Tuesday, 14Mar2023::7:00pm. The venue will, in turn, notify the league operator by the final deadline of 8pm on the same night.
The season’s match play officially begins on Thursday, 16Mar2023 at 7:30pm.
The captains/delegates at the meeting participated in a rule change discussion and vote. Summary of the discussions and changes:
- Rule 24A: This rule will be adjusted to indicate that we will stop using the Perpetual Placard after two more seasons have filled up the one we have. The league is content to have the end-of-season top winners documented in this website’s Latest News articles instead.
- Rule 02: The league voted to withdraw from sanctioning primarily because so few of our individuals ever take advantage of the benefits.
- Rule 20B: The league voted against a proposal to add a 3rd designated sub per team.
- Rule 20E: The league voted Yes to eliminate the scenario of the 4-player team being penalized when the 3-player team’s handicap increases.
- Rule 20F: All agreed to insert a 4th condition enabling player replacement – when a player has been banished by the venue.
- New rule 26: There were none opposed to having the schedule be made courteous to players in wheel chairs – by preventing their teams from being scheduled on tables 02, 03, 04, and 05.
- Rule 19B: The league operator proposed inserting “Each league night,” at the beginning of the rule to clarify the scope of the rule. All agreed.
- Rule 19H: The proposal to insert a new exception scenario was voted No. The proposed new scenario was conditional when the 9-ball runout pot is worth more than $450 per ball, to have a recurring draw until someone wins from the pot.
- Although that was voted No, it evoked a new proposal which was voted Yes. When the 9-ball runout pot is greater than $450 per ball, and neither of the first two selected individuals wins money, then a 3rd selection will occur.
- Another proposed change to Rule 19H was voiced. When the reasonable search fails to locate the selected player, then the already-randomized 2nd player in the list becomes the selected player. This was not adopted thereby forcing a new randomization to occur instead – which was already the defaulted process.
RAFFLE Status:
There were 267 chances invested in this evening’s raffle opportunity.
- Mark H was picked for the first time in nearly six years (since Week 14 of the 2017 Summer season). He celebrated by breaking dry on Table 10.
- Jerry W has never waited that long, but he also broke dry – this time on Table 08. His break was firm with lots of action. The final rolling ball (the three) didn’t have enough steam to drop into the northeast corner pocket.
- The entire raffle pot rolls over to 2023 Spring Week 01.
OTHER:
- The 1st Place Team and Top Shooter plates from the just-ended 2022 Autumn Season were affixed to the Perpetual Placard.
- Eric L found his way back and signed up as a teamless individual (for now).
- Two new teams (so far) are joining this season – although one and a half of those teams have players we’ve had in the past.
- Julian F practiced for a while on Table 07 to shoot a ball from the inside of one corner pocket to the inside of the diagonally opposite corner pocket without hitting anything and without sinking the ball.
