Outstanding outing(s):
- Jerry R and Steve V each scored 77.
- Bryan W and Sean B each shot a 76.
- Joe L and Andrew S each had 75.
RAFFLE Status:
- Nancy K was picked for the 1st time this season. She made the 1-ball in the north side pocket of Table 09 on her break shot. The 2-ball was on the east rail a few inches from the SE corner and the 5-ball a little further also on the rail. The cue-ball situated in great shape near the bottom of where the rack would sit and with plenty of freedom between the 2 and the 5. She sank the 2 easily and the cue-ball flirted with the south side but stayed afloat. She cashed out for 2 ninths of the available pot.
- Romy G just finished beating the current league’s top shooter on Table 11. He followed it up by sinking a ball on his 9-ball break. The 1-ball hung in front of the north side pocket favoring its eastern tit. The cue-ball (c-b) was a little bit west of center table and the 2-ball was about a foot NW of the c-b.
- Romy calculated caroms and sank the 1 in the side. The c-b caromed off each of the three eastern rails for decent but angled shape for the 2 in the NW corner.
- Romy and the crowd wavered back and forth on whether or not to proceed, but he finally chose to do it. He sank the two.
- The c-b avoided the north side pocket and lined up very well for the 3-ball into the SE corner.
- The c-b caromed off the SE rail far enough for a clean shot at the 4-ball which was just off the SW rail midway between its pockets. Romy struck the c-b which struck the 4-ball which rattled and dropped into the SW corner. Despite having good shape on the 5-ball, Romy had enough of the rattlers and cashed out for 5/9ths of the remaining pot.
- The raffle pot, now shaved to approximately 41% of what it had been at Nancy’s break, rolls over to Week 09.
OTHER:
- The season is now more than half over. New payment envelopes will be provided to begin Week 09.
- The Top-Shooter battle has Mark D merely 5 total points better than Julian F after each has played 7 of the 8 weeks.
- The team standings has The Breakup as the only team better than the key target of 315 points per week (ppw). Pocket Rattlers, Stick-e-Balls, Should Be Out, and PhaCues are sequentially next and the only other teams above 308 ppw.
- In one of the final games of the night, the 8-ball was amidst four object balls clustered at the NE corner of Table 7. Steve G and Sultan S opposed each other and used approximately 8 innings just to get the 8-ball freed up. Observers classified it as “a chess game.”
- Michelle was out, but Michelle filled in for her. And then Michelle had to leave. The league wishes both of them well until we next see them.
