The official signup for the general public concluded with 15 teams enrolled. If it remains at this quantity, there will be a BYE week scheduled for a different team each week and the season will end on 26Oct2023’s Party night.
If any other individuals or teams are interested to join in, please notify the venue (Shooter’s Sports Bar and Billiards, Grayslake Illinois) before Tuesday, 11Jul2023::7:00pm. The venue will, in turn, notify the league operator by the final deadline of 8pm on the same night.
The season’s match play officially begins on Thursday, 13Jul2023 at 7:30pm.
The captains/delegates at the meeting participated in a rule change discussion and vote. Summary of the discussions and changes:
- Rule 17: The idea to designate a specific set of referees for shot-watching duty was not adopted. Our current rule and its sub-parts A and B were deemed sufficient.
- Rule 24: Although the type of food to be ordered at party night is not specified in the rule, nobody supported an idea to have it changed from what we usually do (pizza).
- Rule 19C: The league voted to adopt a change designating that raffle opportunity transactions will be conducted only at a designated station in the venue.
- A suggestion was made and went unopposed to designate Table 14 as the sole non-league 9-foot table for seasons when we have 13 or more teams.
RAFFLE Status:
There were 219 chances invested in this evening’s raffle opportunity.
- Nancy K was the stand-in selector because Joe L was not in attendance to do it. She picked Sultan S – even after he had teasingly complained during our rules meeting about not getting picked as often as he wants. His Table 04 break sunk the 4-ball in the south side pocket. After settling, the cue-ball, 6-ball, and 1-ball were aligned in that sequence and pointing toward the south side pocket. Sultan kicked at the 1 off the SW rail. The 1 headed north and caused the 7-ball to carom back toward the south side but it didn’t drop. The cue-ball scratched into the SE corner.
- Sultan’s selection went to Josh G who had just joined the league for the first time. Josh also broke on Table 04, but it was a dry break.
- The entire raffle pot rolls over to 2023 Summer’s Week 01.
OTHER:
- Three of four individuals were teamless when they walked into the facility and they left as teammates for this upcoming season – joined together with Kevin L who has not played in our league since pre-pandemic.
- Among the 15 teams thus far registered, three of the teams have 10 players who have not played with us in the past.
