Noteworthy events from 2023 Summer Week 10

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Norberto E tallied the only perfect 80.
  2. Kevin C shot a 77.
  3.  Julian F, Mona T, Mike M, and Wes P each finished with 76 points.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Tim B: Table 05; Sank the 1-ball in the SE corner on the break. The 2-ball was a little away from the same pocket.  The cue-ball was near the rack spot for a tough cut which was missed.
  2. Steve V: Table 08; Made the 9-ball in the SE corner on the break but remember by rule, it’s just another ball. The 2-ball also dropped.  The 1-ball was near but off the west rail next to the NW corner and the cue-ball nearly dead center table.  Steve technically undercut and caromed off the rail kicking the 1-ball into the northwest rail.
  3. The entire raffle pot rolls over to Week 11.

OTHER:

  1. Nancy scored her 3rd consecutive 60 which has raised her avg pts/game by 0.08333333333.
  2. There are now three individuals, each of whom has played at least 5 weeks, tied at 7.750 pts/game.
  3. The league wishes a speedy and comfortable elbow recovery for Bill T.
  4. A couple of rule questions arose.
    A) Cue-ball kissing object ball is absolutely low-risk for a double hit foul when stroking straight through it.  A foul is still possible of course, but low-risk.
    B) Disturbed ball:
    Definition: A ball that has been accidentally touched or moved by the player’s body, clothing or
    equipment.
    BCA Rule 1-33, subpoint 1 (League operator inserted the a and b for later clarification):
    a) During a game, it is not a foul if you accidentally touch or move a single stationary
    object ball with any part of your body, clothing or equipment,
    b) unless the disturbed ball has an effect on the outcome of the shot.
    BCA Rule 1-33, subpoint 7: It is a foul if:
    a. you disturb the cue ball;
    b. you disturb more than one object ball;
    c. a disturbed ball contacts any other ball;
    d. you disturb a ball that is in motion
    And for each of these except subpoint 1a, restoring the disturbed ball(s) to original position is forbidden.
  5. A Doors track (Gloria) was played late night on the jukebox that Dave G had never heard before.
