Noteworthy events from 2023_4 Winter Week 16

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Jerry R scored the only 77 of the night and there were no perfects.
  2. Steve V had the only 76.
  3. Kyle B shot the only 74.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Craig P, Table 08:  First time ever for Craig.  His break shot generated a near miss of the 3-ball in the NE corner pocket.  It quivered and shook but jumped out.  Lots of action ensued thereafter including the 6-ball caroming off the head rail toward the same NE corner. It ran out of steam, though, with about 2 inches remaining.  Dry break.
  2. Terry N, Table 02.  The 6-ball sunk on the break into the SW corner.  Cue-ball landed near the NW rail.  The 1-ball was in the kitchen with the 7-ball half-interfering with a clean shot to the SE corner.  Terry did what he could.  He hit the 1 with impact causing both 1 and 7 to rail around for a while, but nobody’s pockets welcomed a donation.
  3. The entire raffle pot rolls over to Week 17.

OTHER:

  1. This one will be forever remembered as Marmoset week.
  2. Four different matches out of the nine were won by 6 or fewer total points each. Or you could say that 4 of 9 were lost by 6 or fewer points too – depending upon which team you belong.
  3. Erika D played her season debut with Pool Sharks.
  4. It was the 1st time this season that only the regulars played for Sharp Shooter’s.
  5. TBD’s had one absence reducing their HCP thereby resulting in an 8-point bonus for their Racking My Brain opponent.
  6. Road Warriors had one player absent, but no HCP impact.
  7. Tricia S tallied her highest score ever.
    • IRONY Alert: her pair of 5’s lost in poker to her teammate’s pair of 6’s.
  8. AJ N had his highest score ever.
  9. Lew M and Steve V each had their highest score of the season.
  10. Brian C fulfilled his prediction for the night.
  11. Eric L wants a rematch against Terry N.
  12. The League Operator summarily announced about a free team entry available in the 2024 ACS Nationals tournament.  Here are the explicit details:  The ACS provides a FREE Nationals Standard Division 8-Ball Team Entry to ALL ACS-sanctioned leagues, so the Team Standard Entry Fee is free, but the team will still need to submit the $25/player green fees.  A player must have at least 8 weeks played in our current 2023_4 Winter Season.
    • Note the classification of Standard is also explicit.  This thereby excludes players in Open, and Advanced / Master rankings.
    • Generally, any of our players who have a 7.5 or lower Pts/Game average can typically be negotiated into the Standard classification, but the ACS management has the final authority for those decisions.
    • The actual entry form and qualification details are linked here.
