Noteworthy events from 2022 Winter Week 05

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Perfect 80 score for Larry P, for Frank C, and for Jon W.
  2. A near-perfect 77 for Brian N.
  3. Jerry R shot a 75.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Mike B’s break shot on Table 04 wound up with the cue-ball beelining along the southern rail into the southeast corner pocket for a scratch.
  2. Frank C had a perfect night in his 8-ball match scoring and broke strong on Table 07.  Two balls dropped and the cue-ball was in great position for a run-out.  He made the 1-ball easily and set up for the 3-ball to be used in a combo shot.  The 3-ball did its job to sink Frank’s fourth ball into the southeast corner pocket, but didn’t cooperate to stay there.  It drifted out of shape and against the south rail.  Frank cashed out for four 9ths of the raffle pot and the 4-ball remained hanging at the northwest corner pocket.
  3. The remaining raffle pot rolls over to Week 06.

OTHER:

  1. It’s quite rare to see ties in the individual standings, but week 05’s resulted in three within the top 10 of the standings.  And all three were perfect ties:
    • Larry P <–> Romy G with 345 points each currently 3rd.
    • Frank C <–> Kevin C with 342 points each currently 5th.
    • Esteban Q <–> Kevin G with 338 points each currently 8th.
    • Keep an eye on Table 08 and 09 in Week 06’s match between Esteban and Kevin G!!
  2. There will be a pre-emptive makeup match being played Saturday Feb 26th to avoid a team-absence predicted for Week 07.  Way to go teams for being proactive!!
  3. Allie C called for a timeout in a match on Table 13, but since she called upon teammate Tim, there may be a proposal next season to rename Rule 9 to TimOuts.
  4. There was pretty good snowfall on this night.  It ended up with a few inches and tough driving.
