Noteworthy events from 2022 Winter Week 04

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Scott C and Kevin G each scored perfect 80s.
  2. Scott’s teammate Jerry R shot a 77.
  3. Romy G wound up with 76.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Jim S made a strong break (as usual) on Table 14 and sank a ball.  The 1-ball and cue-ball were on opposite ends of the table’s length and the 7-ball was hiding the majority of the 1-ball.  Jim wielded has shot, and missed the 1 entirely.  Although the cue-ball came back after caroms off the head rail and foot rail, it collided with the 7-ball first for a foul.
  2. Jon W, who had most recently been selected on Nov 12, 2020, made a ball on his Table 05 break shot.  Per the crowd’s feedback, the 1-ball offered the following options:
    • a sliver-cut into the northeast corner or
    • a bank shot off the head rail to either footrail’s corner pocket, or
    • a bank shot off the head rail to either side pocket, or
    • a just-hit-the-darn-thing-hard and see what happens!
    • Jon’s attempt at the second option missed the southwest corner.
  3. The raffle pot rolls over to Week 05.

OTHER:

  1. Two opponent players concurred that a specific game was finished incorrectly in Week 03.  After verification, the score got corrected.
  2. The predicted 6-10 inches of snowfall didn’t happen in Grayslake.
  3. It was terrific to see our league standings electronically displayed intermittently on the new wall-posted gizmos throughout our venue.  Thank you Bill B!!
