Noteworthy events from 2022 Spring Week 12 (Party)

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. The final Scotch-Doubles tournament match (after 11 teams were enrolled) was ready at about 10:20pm, but the participants elected to chop the pot evenly instead.
    • The team of Tom B (2nd consecutive season in the finals) and Sultan S won two matches:
      • a quarter-final pairing against John V (a finalist last season) & Wes P
      • a semi-final match against Cruz A (Tom’s teammate in last season’s final) and Esteban Q.
    • The team of Romy G and Bob C also won two matches:
      • against David C and Cristina C in the quarter-final
      • against Julian F & Sal H in the semis
    • Both teams had a bye in the opening round.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Cristina C miscued on her Table 14 break for a foul (didn’t hit the 1-ball).
  2. James W broke clean on Table 08, but nothing dropped.
  3. The raffle pot rolls over to next week’s official 2022 Summer Season sign-up night!

OTHER:

  1. The end of season ceremony included the following announcements:
    • The Little Man Syndrome team finished in 1st place, was awarded 23% of the season’s pot, and should learn to pick on someone their own size.
    • Mona T was the league’s official Top Shooter with an 8.909 points per game average.
    • He also won the top-shooter Side-Pot against three competitors.
    • Braxton L was recognized with the greatest average-per-game percentage improvement (17.28) when comparing final average to that from Week 01.
    • Other stats from this season:
      1. 61 of our 68 rostered players had at least one week played.
      2. We had 7 players make their league debuts.
      3. Five cashed-in some raffle winnings – none did it twice.
      4. The 5 teams who accumulated the fewest handicap points during the season, ended up in the first 5 places in the standings.  Only 3 of the bottom 5 places accumulated the most HCP points.
  2. It wasn’t announced, but the ACS paraphernalia (e.g., rule books, patches, member cards) have not yet arrived for this 2022-2023 ACS season.  We should confidently expect them to be available by mid-August for those who were signed up in our 2022 Spring season.
  3. The League Operator neglected to provide sign-up sheets on this night, but a sign-up opportunity will be available to the general public (including incumbents) on Thursday, 21Jul2022 beginning at approximately 6:30pm.
  4. Contact your captains if you didn’t collect your prize money yet from the 2022 Spring season.  In the cases of Racking My Brain and Never Say Never, the League Operator has the remaining corresponding awards available.
  5. Steve I was in rare attendance and wielded a pool cue for about 90 minutes on Table 09 during the casual pre-tournament period.
  6. There was a young descendent of one third of the Pocket Rattlers team in attendance.
  7. There was an understandably-quiet bags (a.k.a. cornhole) event adjacent to our league’s designated area within the venue.
