The official signup for the general public resulted in 13 teams enrolled. If it remains at this quantity, there will be a Bye week scheduled for each team.
If any other individuals or teams are interested to join in, please notify the venue (Shooter’s Sports Bar and Billiards, Grayslake Illinois) before Tuesday, 26Jul2022::7:00pm. The venue will, in turn, notify the league operator by the final deadline of 8pm on the same night.
The season’s match play officially begins on Thursday, 28Jul2022 at 7:30pm. Rostered individuals who have not yet paid their $15 ACS Sanctioning fee (see rule #2) will need to do so at the time they play their first match this season.
The captains/delegates at the meeting participated in a rule change discussion and vote. Bottom line: No significant changes were made to the rules.
Minor changes:
- The Obvious Shot rule was adjusted to recognize that jump shots are not permitted by our venue.
- The player drawn for the immediately-previous raffle opportunity, will be invited to “click the button” for drawing the current opportunity’s player. This clause will be inserted into Rule 19.D.
- The concept of former Rule 19.J (league operator picking the table) will be absorbed as the intro of Rule 19.F.
- Finally, Rule 19.F.i will have simpler wording by replacing “…’retire’ from the rack…” to “…cash out…”
Other ideas that were vote-refuted:
- Officially start matches at 7pm instead of at 7:30pm. There is nothing in our current rules, however, that prevents two opposing teams from agreeing to begin their match early if they each have at least two players available. The vote was five to four.
- Replace the electronic randomization of raffle player selections by using tickets. The vote was unanimous to keep the e-randomization.
RAFFLE Status:
- Julian F made the 2-ball on his Table 08 break shot. The 1-ball and cue-ball were positioned to require a very thin slice into the southwest corner pocket and a lot of distance between them. Julian made a good hit, but the 1-ball barely nudged south at all.
- John V (selected by Julian in accordance with the minor rule change described earlier) sank a ball on the break (Table 09). The cue-ball settled slightly northwest of the south side pocket and the 1-ball was just off the southwest rail a little further west of the cue-ball. John focused and concentrated and his subsequent shot walked that 1-ball dog slowly down the rail into the corner pocket. The cue-ball caromed and landed too far behind the 8-ball on the north end of the table to have a shot at the 2-ball. He cashed out 2/9ths of the available pot.
- The remaining raffle pot rolls over to 2022 Summer Week 01.
OTHER:
- One team needs to provide a team name before Tuesday at 8pm — otherwise they will become TBD1.
- Seven rostered names have not played even a game in our league before.
- One team from last season has three of its players returning, but on two different teams.
