The official signup for the general public concluded with 15 teams enrolled. If it remains at this quantity, there will be a BYE week scheduled for each team.
If any other individuals or teams are interested to join in, please notify the venue (Shooter’s Sports Bar and Billiards, Grayslake Illinois) before Tuesday, 08Nov2022::7:00pm. The venue will, in turn, notify the league operator by the final deadline of 8pm on the same night.
The season’s match play officially begins on Thursday, 10Nov2022 at 7:30pm. Rostered individuals who have not yet paid their $15 ACS Sanctioning fee (see rule #2) will need to do so at the time they play their first match this season.
The captains/delegates at the meeting participated in a rule change discussion and vote. Summary of the discussions and changes:
- Rule 8B (venue rule) is changed as follows: If a team has a BYE for a given week, they can play on the designated BYE table for a fee equaling a full team’s normal greens fee. This is true no matter how many from the team are playing.
- Rule 23: Lito G will replace Jon W as a league officer. This change was made because Jon was on a roster only as a sub.
- The recurring topic of raffle tickets versus randomizer was voted upon and the randomizer won again. Neither the tickets nor the randomizer provided any comment.
- A discussion transpired on whether or not an additional penalty should be applied to a team whose lowest-average player is absent on a league night. Variations sprouted in the discussion too. A vote was eventually taken resolving (wording revised to be more precise on 05Nov2022):
- If either team has fewer than four players present, then the reverse of that team’s handicap impact will be applied to the opponent. Examples:
- if the absentee’s team total handicap on that night changes from 32 to 24 (a subtraction of eight), then the opponent team will be awarded a bonus eight points.
- If the absentee’s team total handicap changes from 24 to 40 (an addition of 16 points), then the opponent will incur a 16 point deduction.
- If there is no impact to the absentee’s team’s total handicap, there will be no impact on the opponent team’s final score.
- If either team has fewer than four players present, then the reverse of that team’s handicap impact will be applied to the opponent. Examples:
- Another proposal arose, but we neglected to vote on it (because the preceding conversation had not yet concluded) so it will be up for a quickie vote on opening night: Legacy rule 20D: Increase the penalty for a 2-player team from 15 points to 30 points.
RAFFLE Status:
- Julian F, also selected first on our Summer signup night, made the 5-ball on his Table 06 break shot. The 1-ball and cue-ball, with a lot of distance between them, were positioned to require either a very thin slice into the southwest corner pocket or a bank into the southeast corner. Julian tried the bank unsuccessfully.
- Sultan S broke dry on Table 11. As the diligent student of the game that he is, he proceeded to practice his 9-ball break shot for the remainder of the night.
- The raffle pot rolls over to 2022 Autumn Week 01.
OTHER:
- Several former teams have signed up for the first time in more than 6 months. Road Warriors, PhaCues, Free Agents, and Mjolnir (now called Corner).
