Noteworthy events from 2023_4 Winter Week 14

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. A perfect 80 score was accomplished tonight by each of the following players:  Mona T, Esteban Q, Norberto E, and John G.  In John’s case, it was his first one ever in our league.
  2. Jerry W was a soloist in tallying 77.
  3. Dave F had the only 76 and also made the shot of the night as witnessed by this author.  On his final shot of the night, the cue-ball was just a smidgen west of the 8-ball (which itself was just a smidgen south of the NW rail) and the two balls were nearly a full table surface width apart from each other. He cut it masterfully into the NE corner pocket.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Romy G, Table 08:  He made the 5 and 6 on the break.  The 1-ball was near the south side pocket and the cue-ball was a mirror image away from the north side pocket.  Romy opted for a bank and made it.  The follow brought the cue-ball into shape for the 2-ball, but it wasn’t without difficulty.  Romy had runout in his sights.  His approach was to cheat the 2-ball into the NE corner for perfect shapes on the 3-ball in the same pocket.  He got the shapes, but the 2-ball stayed on the table.
  2. Bryan W, Table 07.  First time picked this season.  His break shot left him with perfect shape on the 1-ball, but he wasn’t allowed to shoot it because nothing had fallen on the actual break shot.
  3. The entire raffle pot remains available for Week 15.

OTHER:

  1. Nestor C made his league debut with Pool Sharks and the opponent Wolff Pack team left him without a victory.
  2. One Way- Upward with one absence, had a HCP reduction resulting in an 8-point bonus for their PhaCues opponent.
  3. Racking My Brain, TBDs, and Big Slick each had one player absent, but their HCPs were unimpacted.
  4. The Sharon versus Sharon head-to-head match ended up tied at 17 points apiece.
  5. The Mike K versus Tim B head-to-head match final score wasn’t quite as even.
  6. ACS rule books and patches were distributed to many.  Please note that we do not use the ACS rules in our league.  Our rules are based on BCA as explained in Rule #1 of our league rules.
    • And, per rule 1-3.1.g it is indeed a foul for someone to use an object (piece of chalk, finger, cue stick, etc.) as a width-measuring device.  Only the player’s vision is allowed.
