Noteworthy events from 2024 Autumn Week 9

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Free Agents teammates Kyle B (2nd in a row), John W & Ed White (1st this season) all had the perfect 80s. Jerry R (also 1st one this season) of Pocket Rattlers also scored an 80
  2. Dave F scored 77 points.
  3. Romy R tallied 76.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Frankie C, Table 2: Selected for the first time this season.  There were lots of bouncing balls after the break impact, but none dropped into a pocket.  End result = Dry break.
  2. Mike K, also Table 02: was on their BYE, but came in specifically for the raffle. Unfortunately, was not worth the wait, as he broke dry.
  3. The entire raffle pot rolls over to Week 10.

OTHER:

  1. Last Game had a missing player which caused a HCP variance of negative 8.  The inverse was therefore awarded as a bonus of 8 points to opponent Ferocious Ferrets.
  2. Road Warriors also had a missing player causing a 16 point HCP decrease therefore awarding 16 points to their opponent Scorpions. But luckily for the Road Warriors, their GHOST player scored an 80.
  3. Wolff Pack had a missing player also but theirs caused an 8 point HCP increase to their score and no Bonus was awarded to Big Slick.
  4. Mike H made his season debut for Ferocious Ferrets.
  5. Robert S (Easy Money) of Racking My Brain also made his season debut.
  6. This season’s 2nd-half envelopes will be available next week for the remaining weekly fee collection. Please check the old against the new. I will only need the old one back if there is a discrepancy.
  7. Our real League Operator has been having a great couple weeks! Let’s hope that keeps up and maybe we can see him soon for a visit!!!

Noteworthy events from 2024 Autumn Week 08

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Teammates Mike M, AC C, Jimmy S all scored 80, along with Kyle B.
  2. Kevin J, Dave F and Craig P all shot a 77.
  3. Ed S had 76.

RAFFLE Status:

    1. Mark H broke dry on Table 10.
    2. Mona T broke dry on Table 11.
    3. The entire pot rolls onward to Week 09.

OTHER:

    1. Last Game and Pocket Rattlers played each other, both were missing a player. Last Game’s missing player caused an 8pt HCP decrease, therefore, awarding an 8pt Bonus to the Pocket Rattlers. Pocket Rattler’s absence did not cause any change in HCP.
    2. Doni B of the Creepy Bullys made his season debut.
    3. Just a throw-out to Jesus for helping with the raffle. All has gone smoothly with the change to tickets and thank you for doing a great job!!

Noteworthy events from 2024 Autumn Week 07

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Road Warriors were perfect! Larry P, Mona T, Bryan W and Julian F all got an 80. Craig P of Free Agents also shot an 80.
  2. Kyle B scored 77 points.
  3. Jerry W shot a 74.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Ed S was the first pick of the night, but broke dry.
  2. Kevin C, Table 14: Made the 2-ball in the corner on the break. Had a decent shot on the 1-ball. Made it with ease, but when the cue came up table for the 3-ball, it just bumped the 3-ball into the 5-ball. Although the crowd said he should go for the combo, Kevin didn’t want to risk it bumping into the 9-ball and cashed out for 2/9th of the pot.
  3. The remaining raffle pot rolls over to Week 08.

OTHER:

  1. David K of The Butchers made his season debut.
  2. Bill F of Ferocious Ferrets made his season debut.
  3. Sharon W of Behind the 8-Ball made her season debut. We wish her luck at Nationals for golfing!!!
  4. There were two player absences which, by virtue of Rule 20.E.i’s example, resulted in bonus points for one team but not the other (which played each other), as follows:
    Wolff Pack earned 8 points from the Last Game absence due to Last Game’s HCP being reduced by 8 points.
    Last Game did not benefit from Wolff Pack’s absence as Wolff Pack’s HCP increased by 8 points.

Noteworthy events from 2024 Autumn Week 06

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Stan G had the only perfect 80, his first of the season.
  2. Adrian P scored 77.
  3. Sam B shot a 74.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Steve VD made the 8-ball in the corner pocket but the cue ball happened to find the side pocket also.
  2. Adrian P was chosen next. He had a good break making the 5-ball in the corner pocket.  The 1-ball and the 3-ball were couple inches apart at the foot end middle diamond about an inch off the rail. The cue ball on the other side rail on the head side. He had the 4-ball hanging in the one side pocket and the 8-ball hanging in the other side pocket. He looked at both angles to try and bank into them and just missed hitting the 8-ball in.
  3. The entire raffle pot rolls over to Week 07.

OTHER:

  1. There were no missing players this week.
  2. A question was raised if a ball was accidentally knocked in by a “belly”. Does it stay down, get restored to its original position, or spotted? The opponent has the authority to restore the ball to where it was, but no way does it get to stay down.
  3. Also, a question was asked last week whether when 2 or more balls are moved by a player, but not by the normal action of the cleanly-shot cue ball, is that a foul? Yes, it is a ball-in-hand foul.
