  1. Craig P had the only perfect 80 – his 2nd for this season.
  2. Mike M and Kevin L (his best ever in our league) each scored 77.
  3. Steve VD ended with a 75.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Nancy K: picked for the first this season! Made 2 balls on the break. The 4-ball very quickly into one top corner and the 2-ball took it’s time into the other top corner pocket. Had a decent shot on the 1-ball in the side pocket, made it, but left a long-slightly angled shot on the 3-ball. Didn’t have the confidence to make the 3-ball since wasn’t haven’t a good night and was happy enough with 3/9ths of the pot.
  2. Tim B: picked for the 2nd time this season since Week 3, made the 1-ball in the bottom corner pocket. He had the perfect angled shot on the 2-ball to get position on the 3-ball that was on the rail on the other end of the table. He made it with ease and got perfect position on the 3-ball…..but he missed and left the 3-ball hanging in the pocket!!! What a heartbreaker!!! Was not able to cash out!

He tried kicking the 2-ball in and was able to hit it, but not good enough to make it.

  4. Lost a few people we all may have grew up listening to/watching. Our condolences to their families. RIP Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Hulk Hogan, Ozzie Ozbourne and Chuck Mangione. Thanks for the memories!

  3. Mark H tallied 74.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Zane E: Breaking on Table 15;  Picked for the 1st time since returning from many years ago, made the 9-ball (just another ball) in the corner pocket and the 6-ball in the side. He had a possible scratch-cut shot on the 1-ball in the side, made it, avoiding the scratch. He left a long straight-in shot on the 2-ball, but his teammates were pressuring him to quit and take the 3/9ths of the pot and he abliged.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Jerry R, Table 7: what a night for Jerry, not only scoring a perfect 80, was picked for the first time this season. He made the 3-ball in the side pocket and was left with a long kick on the 1-ball. He hit it firm hoping it would hit another ball and possibly make something, but the 1-ball went in-between the 5-ball and the 8-ball and shot into the corner pocket like a bullet!  The cue ball rolled just a little too far leaving a sharp, possible scratch, on the 2-ball. He opted for the 2/9th of the pot.

  3. Two deadlines approach in Week 03.  By 11pm on that night:
    • Last chance to fill in roster-specific subs.  If a team continues to have open slots at 11pm, they will remain open through the remainder of the season.
    • Last chance to get in for the Top Shooter! Mona T, so far is the only one interested! Anyone want to give him some competition, let me know, it’s only $5 to get in!!! The winner gets whatever is in that pot!

Noteworthy events from 2025 Summer Week 1

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. John C had the only perfect 80.
  2. Kevin C shot a 77.
  3. Steve VD tallied 76.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Eric C, Table 15: picked the first time this season (was picked twice 2025 Winter season-Wks 13 & 17) – Broke Dry!
  2. Romy G, Table3: last picked 2025 Winter’s Party Night, did not want a repeat of that night! He made the 1-ball in the side pocket and had a long 2-ball/3-ball combination (the 3-ball hanging in the corner pocket making it a little easier). He made the 3-ball but the 2-ball rolled in front of the 7-ball making it a much harder next shot. He could have gone rail first to make the 2-ball, but walked away with 2/9ths of the pot. (He played it afterwards and made it and continued to make a couple more!)
  3. The remaining raffle pot rolls over to Week 02.

OTHER:

  1. Our rosters include a total of four brand new players this season (Two were on the roster from 2025 Winter season but never played).  League debuts on this night:
    • Yutaka T shot a 53 and Ron M (Ron shot many years ago) shot a 42 – both for the Pocket Pounders team.
    • Bert G shot a 33 for the Sharp Shooters.
    • Zane E made his debut for the Headhunters scoring 70. Zane played with us many years ago also. Welcome back!
    • The other two rookies (Manny F and Jerardo F) did not play this evening.
  2. There were no missing players for Week 1.
  3. We need to see if there are any interested individuals that would like to invest in the Top Shooter side-pot.  Two more scheduled weeks remain to get in on it.  See rule 24.A.iii for more details.

Noteworthy events from 2025 Summer Signup Night

The official signup for the general public concluded with 15 teams enrolled.  If it remains at this quantity, there will be a BYE week scheduled for a different team each week and the season will end on 25Sept2025’s Party night.

If any other individuals or teams are interested to join in, please notify the venue (Shooter’s Sports Bar and Billiards, Grayslake Illinois) before Tuesday, 10Jun2025:7:00pm.  The venue will, in turn, notify the league operator by the final deadline of 8pm on the same night.

The season’s match play officially begins on Thursday, 13Jun2025 at 7:30pm.

The captains/delegates at the meeting participated in a rule change discussion and vote.  Summary of the discussions and changes:

  1. Rule 20Ei: adding: The MAXIMUM Bonus awarded will be capped at 16 points.
  2. REMINDER of Rule 21B: Game: If a player abandons the match before all her/his games have been played, then each un-played game/s will be forfeited with 10 points awarded to the opponent and zero for the deserter (and the zeros will not be credited to the deserter’s average). The only exception is if the deserter departed due to a verifiable emergency issue.
  3. It was voted that is NOT a foul if a Coach uses a cue stick to show/coach his player on how to hit the shot. See Rule 9A
  4. Scotch Doubles. It was recently changed to one coach per team/per game, which has helped with the time constraints. However, it is a friendly/fun tournament being played on party night. If a team already had their one coach for that game and tries to have another coach, just inform them they already had their one coach, it will not be a ball-in-hand foul. Remember, this is all for fun and comradery.
  5. ENVELOPES (Rule 18D) Reminder: Each player listed on the team’s envelope is accountable to record the EXACT numeric dollar amount they inserted on a GIVEN DATE/WEEK for their name. For example, 0 for Week 3, then $40 for Week 4. PLEASE do not change any previous amounts on the envelope that were already entered.
  6. ACS Sanctioning. It was unanimously voted to NOT be ACS Sanctioned starting with the 2025 Summer Season.

RAFFLE Status:

There were 272 chances invested in this evening’s raffle opportunity.

  1. John R: Table 6: first one selected for the 2025 Summer season.  He sunk the 6-ball in the corner pocket. He had a not-so-easy bank on the 1-ball, but made it with authority, leaving him a long straight-in shot on the 2-ball. He made that with ease and with no shot on the 3-ball, ended with 3/9ths of the pot.
  2. Josh G was selected next: Table 2: Made the 3-ball in the corner and the 5-ball in the side on his break. He had a great shot on the 1-ball, but didn’t want to chance the 2-ball in the side or run it down to the corner passed the 4-ball. He also settled for 3/9ths of the pot.
  3. The remaining raffle pot rolls over to 2025 Summer’s Week 01.

OTHER:

  1. We have one person left on the teamless signup sheet if anyone is in need of a player/sub. Please contact Nancy if you are interested.
  2. A HUGE Shout Out to Jim McCauley for the beautiful shadowbox with Paul’s cue stick, claw (that Jim made for him years ago), glove, chalk holder all in memory of Paul H Adler’s many, many years of being our favorite League Operator. Thank you so much Jim. It is hung above the schedule and stats for everyone to see and remember! (Thanks for hanging it so quickly and securely Bill!)
