Noteworthy events from 2025 Winter Season Week 10

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Roy S (his 3rd), Scott C & Romy G (their 2nd) and Steve VD (his 1st) tallied perfect 80s.
  2. Mona T and Dennis S each shot a 77.
  3.  Julian F scored 76 points.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Sharon C, Table 6:  was selected for the 1st time this season (last time was week 16 of the Autumn 2024 season). She made the 6-ball in the corner pocket. She had a long, slight cut on the 1-ball in the far corner and juuuuust missed.
  2. Tim B, Table 9:  was selected for the 2nd time this season. He made a ball on the break but unfortunately it was the white one!!
  3. The entire raffle pot rolls over to Week 11.

OTHER:

  1. There were no absent players this week!
  2. Tom B made his season debut for Racking My Brain replacing Debo A.
  3. Racks & Balls vs The Pistol Whips had a great night playing against each other. Jerry G (76), Susan N (54) of Racks & Balls scored their highest scores, as did Robin V 72), Kathrine P (56) and Tom K (55) of The Pistol Whips.
  4. Don L of the 501 Club scored his highest score with a 67.
  5. This season is now 50% completed.  New envelopes will be given next week to collect weekly fees for the remaining half. Amounts owed to date will be shown if a player owes for the previous 10 weeks. Any discrepancies, please let Nancy know. (Except for Scorpions whose members have already paid in full).

Noteworthy events from 2025 Winter Season Week 9

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Bryan W, Brandon D, Tim B & Terry N all shot perfect 80s.
  2. Larry P, Mona T and Lito G each scored 77 points.
  3. Bob K tallied 75.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Danny O, Table 2: Selected for the first time this season.  Made the 8-ball in the corner pocket. Made a decent shot on the 1-ball in the side pocket, but the 3-ball was blocking the 2-ball for his next shot. He cashed out with 2/9ths of the pot.
  2. Jimmy S, also Table 07: Selected for his first time this season, broke dry.
  3. The remaining raffle pot rolls over to Week 10.  

OTHER:

  1. 501 Club had a missing player but did not cause any HCP change.
  2. PhaCues also had a missing player causing as 8-point HCP decrease therefore awarding 8 points to their opponent Free Agents.
  3. Tim W made his season debut for The Pistol Whips.
  4. The Chalkoholics all scored a 70!

 

Noteworthy events from 2025 Winter Season Week 8

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Sean B, Bill F and Sam B each scored their first perfect 80 of the season. Primo scored his 2nd 80 of the season and Larry P was able to get his 3rd 80 in a row!
  2. Mona T, Bryan W and Ed F all shot a 77.
  3. Julian F and Craig P had 76 each.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Nancy K was selected for the first time this season. She made the 3-ball in the side pocket on the break but had no shot on the 1-ball. She tried kicking at it with no luck.
  2. Ramiro G was selected next for his first time this season and broke dry.
  3. The entire raffle pot rolls over to Week 09.

OTHER:

  1. Bill F made his season debut for the Secret Spiders and as mentioned above shot a perfect 80.
  2. Jerry G made his league debut for Rack & Balls and scored a 50 against PhaCues.
  3. There Goes My 80 had one absence causing an 8pt HCP decrease awarding Free Agents an 8pt Bonus.
  4. The League is now called the “Paul H Adler Memorial THURSDAY 8-Ball 2025 Winter Season” so we can honor and remember the man who loved his Thursday League. Let’s keep it going strong in his memory!

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Romy G & Tony C both shot their 1st 80 of the season and Roy S & Kevin C both shot their 2nd 80 of the season!
  2. No one scored 77 points.
  3. Johnny G, Dennis S, Alex O, Frankie C and Jerry R all shot a 76.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Mona was chosen for the 1st time this season. He made the 1-ball in the side pocket on the break. He had a not-so-easy combo with the 2-ball to the 7-ball, but Mona being Mona, made that look easy, leaving the 2-ball hanging in the corner pocket for his next shot. He made the 2-ball but didn’t like the shapes of shooting over the 6-ball for a hard cut on the 3-ball. He cashed out with 3/9ths of the pot.
  2. Tim B, also his 1st time this season, made the 1-ball in the same side pocket as Mona did and also had a combo for his next shot. Either the 2-ball to the 3-ball combo or a 2-ball to the 4-ball combo. He chose trying the 2-ball to the 4-ball combo but may have hit it a little too hard and it did not cooperate.
  3. The remaining raffle pot rolls over to Week 08.

OTHER:

  1. Don P made his season debut for the Chalkoholics.
  2. AJ N made his league debut for Free Agents.
  3. Behind the 8-ball was the only team to have an absence causing an 8-point HCP reduction, thereby awarding an 8-point bonus to their Scorpions opponent.
  4. We had a moment of silence for our beloved friend Paul Adler. He will be so greatly missed. May you Rest in Peace, Paul. Hope you knew how much you were loved!!!

Note from League Operator

It is with a very heavy heart that I inform all of you that Paul Adler passed away last night. May we keep his wife Rebecca and family in our prayers. As soon as I hear of the arrangements I will relay them to you. May he rest in peace now. We will miss you greatly Paul.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Brandon D broke on Table 4. The 8-ball shot into the corner pocket. He had the 1-ball in the opposite corner pocket, but the 1-ball fought hard not to go in and it won.
  2. John V broke dry on Table 7.
  3. The entire raffle pot rolls over to Week 07.

OTHER:

  1. Chris E made his season debut for the Chalkoholics.
  2. Terry N also made his season debut for Behind the 8-Ball.
  3. Racks & Balls were missing a player which caused an 8pt HCP decrease thereby awarding Secret Spiders the 8pt Bonus.
  4. Pistol Whips was also missing a player but had no HCP impact.

Noteworthy events from 2025 Winter Week 5

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Larry P (2nd in a row), Mark H (2nd in a row), Braxton L (2nd for the season) and Jimmy S all shot the perfect 80s. Finishing Week 3’s make-up games with Racking My Brain, Kyle B also shot an 80.
  2. Jerry W and AC C each scored 76 points.
  3. Roy S, Kevin C, Scott C and Kevin J tallied 75 each.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Chris V got selected for the 1st time this season.  He made the 8-ball in the side and the 5-ball in the corner pocket on Table 16. He was left with a combo with lots of distance in between the cue and 1-ball and also between the 1-ball and the 6-ball. He decided to try and bank the 1-ball and was unable to make it.
  2. Ed W (his 1st time this season) broke dry on his Table 12 break.
  3. The entire raffle pot rolls over to Week 06.

OTHER:

  1. The Chalkoholics had one absent player causing an 8-point HCP decrease, which in turn awarded their opponent Secret Spiders an 8-point Bonus.
  2. Allie C of There Goes My 80 made her season debut with a 46-points against the Road Warriors, outscoring both Romy G and Tim B! You go girl!
  3. Dennis McG of The Pistol Whips made his season debut. Lot different than APA eh??
  4. Tony L returned after only missing one week! Amazing! All his games are made up from Week 3 and he finished last night with a 55 against the Scorpions.

Noteworthy events from 2025 Winter Week 4

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Larry P & Robert S each had a perfect 80 this week! (Braxton L completed his games from Week 3 with a perfect 80 also!)
  2. John V, Fermin A, Kyle B & Romy G all shot 77 points.
  3. Joe L, Norberto E, Ed S, Brandon D and Immer H all tallied 76.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Steve VD was selected first. He broke on Table 10 and made the 8-ball in the foot-end corner pocket. The 4-ball almost went in the other foot-end corner pocket but stayed up to block the 1-ball. Steve hit the 1-ball into the 4-ball hoping something might go in. The 4-ball came off the foot-end rail and the cue ball ran back and forth across the side rails almost knocking the 4-ball in the side pocket but hit the nipple and wouldn’t go in.
  2. Ed F was chosen for the very first time and also broke on Table 10. He made the 2-ball in the corner pocket on the break. The 1-ball almost went in the side pocket but decided to stay up for about a 45-degree angle shot to the corner pocket. Ed came so close but was denied.
  3. The entire pot rolls over to Week 05.

OTHER:

  1. Chris S made his season debuts for Stanley Seamless.
  2. Racking My Brain had an absent player causing an 8- point HCP increase. No Bonus points awarded to their opponent 501 Club.
  3. Big Slick vs the Pocket Rattlers were missing players! Big Slick’s absent player caused a 16-point HCP decrease which awarded Pocket Rattlers a 16-point Bonus. Pocket Rattlers were missing 2 players causing a 15-point penalty decrease. Their missing players had no effect on their HCP. (They wound up gaining 1-point).
  4. Stanley Seamless had an absent player causing a 16-point HCP increase, awarding no Bonus points to the PhaCues.
  5. The Butchers and Racks & Balls completed their games from Week 3. Butchers 365 vs Racks & Balls 288. Their scores are reflected in Week 4 standings.
  6. Racking My Brain and Free Agents completed a few games but is still incomplete. They will complete on Week 5 when Tony L returns. (Week 4 standings do not reflect Week 3 for either team).

SPECIAL NOTES:

Tony L is home and doing great! We are all so grateful!! Thanks again to Ricky R and Ed G. As mentioned above Tony L will be returning next week!

Reminder for anyone who would like to visit with our League Operator Paul A!!! He will be at Shooter’s on Saturday, February 8th between 3-5pm. We are all so happy Paul has been feeling well enough to get out and have some enjoyment!!! Shoot well Paul!

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Mark H and Esteban Q each ended with an 80.  For Esteban it was his 3rd consecutive with only three weeks played – so he remains undefeated!
  2. Fermin A shot 77.
  3. Tim B scored 76.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Josh G was selected but he broke dry on Table 5.
  2. Mark H was next. He made the 3-ball in the corner pocket. The 6-ball was hanging in the corner pocket at the foot end. The one ball was not an easy shot, so he tried to carom the cue ball off the 1-ball into the 6-ball, but was unable to make it.
  3. The entire raffle pot rolls over to Week 04.

OTHER:

  1. Stanley Seamless had one absence which had an 8pt HCP increase, therefore, no Bonus points to their There Goes My 80 opponent.
  2. Pocket Rattlers also had one absence which had no HCP impact.
  3. Same for the Chalkoholics, one absence causing no HCP impact.
  4. Enrollment for the Top Shooter side-pot competition is now closed.  Nobody joined.
  5. Roster size deadline is also now passed, so if your team only has four, it needs to stay at 4 for the remainder of the season.  Same if it is five.
  6. Mike H made his season debut with Secret Spiders.
  7. Immer H made his season debut with PhaCues.
  8. Brian C made his season debut with Pocket Rattlers.
  9. Doni B made his season debut with Creepy Bullies.
  10. Chris R made his season debut with 501 Club.

NOTE:

We are very thankful for Ricky R doing CPR on Tony L. He is out of ICU and doing much better and awaiting his prognosis. Thanks to Ricky R, Ed G and everyone who was on the spot and keeping Tony going until the paramedics arrived! So grateful for those that step up in moments of crisis! We all came together! Speedy recovery shout-out to Tony L.

Also, for anyone who wishes to visit with Paul A, he will be coming to Shooter’s on Saturday, Feb. 8th between 3-5pm to shoot around for a little bit. Another grateful feeling that Paul has been doing so well!!! Keep that going Paul!
