Noteworthy events from 2021 Autumn Week 12

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Scott C and Jerry R, teammates from Rust Never Sleeps, each scored perfect 80s.
  2. Lito G ended with a 77 and lamented his missed 8-ball shot which was too deep in the southwest corner pocket for his attempted ricochet off the neighboring rails.
  3. His bro Romy shot a 76 and had no complaints.
  4. Mike H subjected his opponents to a 75.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. It was Matt S on this pre-New Years night.  On his first selection he broke dry (as usual) on Table 08.
  2. On Matt S’s second selection, he sank a ball on his Table 12 break shot.  The cue-ball was rolling toward the southeast rail and the 1-ball was too for a seemingly perfect line toward the northeast corner pocket.  However, the 4-ball intervened.  Okay, let’s look at kick possibilities.  Hmmm.  The 1-ball settled very minutely northwest of the east side pocket.  Two object balls were perfectly interfering with a “natural” kick off the southwest rail.  The 9-ball and 2-ball were two other object balls near each other, between cue-ball and kick-rail, and barely two-balls width between them.  The available angle didn’t seem possible, but it was the only option.  Matt accepted his fate and hit the cue-ball with perfect speed and spin to successfully drop the 1-ball into the east side pocket.  Matt cashed out with 2/9ths of the available pot.
  3. The remaining raffle pot rolls over to January 6th, 2022.

OTHER:

  1. A whole team, including subs, was absent due to medical incapacitation.  Rule 21A is our guiding principle for this scenario.  A make-up match with the scheduled opponent will be attempted, if practical, before the season’s end.
  2. We had several other players missing tonight across the league – but also several subs were graciously available to fill in.  As mentioned in Week 11’s noteworthy events, the league extends the very best wishes and hopes for those who are absent due to illness.
  3. Happy New Year to everyone!!
