Outstanding outing(s):
- The final tournament match was ready to play at 11pm, but the participants elected to chop the pot evenly instead.
- The team of Romy G + Jim McC won their semi-final match against the team of Bryan W + Cristina C.
- The team of Kevin C + Sultan S won their semi-final match against the team of Tim B + Cruz E.
- This was Romy’s second consecutive season-ending tournament making it into the finals.
RAFFLE Status:
- John V was selected first and made two instant balls on his Table 08 break shot. The 1-ball and 2-ball were aligned about the same distance narrowly off the southwest rail. The cue ball was in the kitchen and between them about twice as far off the southwest rail. The 1-ball was slightly west of the southern side pocket. John assertively popped the 1-ball into the southeast corner and passed on any additional attempts. He therefore cashed out for one third (three ninths) of the available pot.
- Mike M was the 2nd selection and broke dry – despite what seemed like a perfect rack provided by his teammate Kevin G on Table 15.
- The remaining raffle pot rolls over to next week’s official 2022 Winter season’s signup night!
OTHER:
- The end of season ceremony included the following announcements:
- The Road Warriors team finished in 1st place and was awarded 22% of the season’s pot.
- Larry P was the league’s official Top Shooter with a 9.240 points per game average. Tim C and Scott C were the only others who finished at 9 or better.
- Andrew S was recognized with the greatest average-per-game percentage improvement over the course of the season
- Other stats:
- 73 of our 79 rostered players had at least one week played
- This season added 12 new players to the league’s history; kudos to Paul S and to Phil S for their respective recruitment prowess.
- This season had eight women participate – an unconfirmed abundance record.
- Five different players (now six) cashed some winnings from the raffle this season.
- Road Warriors opponents averaged a 5.33 place-drop in the standings. That’s very impressive especially when you consider that their opponents began the match in 7th place or higher more often than not. Their first six opponents were immediately sent to last place.
- Six 18-inch pizzas + a 12-incher arrived slightly before 8pm and were 100% consumed by 10pm or so.
- Eight incumbent teams already signed up for the upcoming 2022 Winter season. A final signup opportunity will be available to the general public (including incumbent’s who are lying in wait) on Thursday, 20Jan2022 beginning at approximately 6:30pm.
- The scotch-doubles tournament had 32 participants (16 teams). The final match concluded (without even a single break shot) at approximately 11:00pm.
