Noteworthy events from 2021 Spring Signup Night

25 players broke out their pool cues on this night and contributed to signing up 10 teams for this upcoming 2021 Spring season.

Captains gathered for a brief meeting about rule change considerations.
Key points and changes resulting from the meet:

  1. We agreed to enroll again for ACS sanctioning.  The meeting facilitator alerted that the ACS sanctioning fee will be $15 instead of $10, but the official vote results were 6 in favor and 3 opposed (there were only nine teams existing at the captains meeting).
  2. The Timeouts rule was challenged as taking too much time and the captains agreed to this rephrasing, “…execute the shot within no more than 3 minutes.”
  3. Other topics arose and were discussed but did not result in any additional changes.

Raffle Status:

  1. Kevin C was selected first by this season’s randomizer (relax – it’s the same one we’ve been using).  Kevin racked on Table 08 and made a ball on the break.  The 1-ball was available although not easy and Kevin missed the northwest pocket by approximately 1.4 inches.
  2. Bill T was next and sank a break ball on Table 12.  Bill’s cue ball sat a lot closer to the 1-ball than Kevin’s scenario, but the slice into the east side pocket proved too difficult.
  3. The raffle pot rolls over to opening night of the season.

Other notes:

  1. Several players (e.g., Jim McC, Paul S, Dennis S) returned to the league for the 1st time since last spring’s cancelled season.
