Noteworthy events from 2023_4 Winter Week 19

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Mona T scored the only perfect 80.
  2. Craig P and Roy S each tallied 77.
  3. Bryan W had the only 76.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Nancy K, Table 10: Sank the 1-ball in the south side on the break. The 2-ball settled in the vicinity of the NE corner, but the cue-ball had no direct path to it.  In fact, every single-rail kick shot path was also blocked by object balls. Nevertheless, Nancy kicked off the southeast rail for a good hit, but the path didn’t allow for sinkage.
  2. Dave G, Table 07: First time picked this season.  He made a ball on the break and had a clean shot to the SW corner at the 1-ball.  It was leaning on the west rail.  Dave had hopes to get clean shape on the 2-ball toward the SE corner, but wasn’t close enough or straight enough to feel comfortable with it.  Dave cashed out for 2/9ths of the available pot.
  3. The remaining pot rolls toward next week’s party night. 

OTHER:

  1. Last Game scored 280 and was awarded 16 bonus points to pass the previous week’s leader PhaCues and into 1st place to end the season.  Bonus points are not foreign to PhaCues either, having had accumulated 48 of their own over the course of the season.
  2. Larry P earned the overall League Top Shooter honors and Mona T’s perfect 80 clinched  the Top Shooter Side Pot award.  By the way, he was the only one entered in the competition for that award, so even a zero on this night would have clinched it for him.
  3. There Goes My 80 had one absence reducing their HCP thereby awarding 16 bonus points to their Last Game opponent.
  4. Sharp Shooter’s had one absence reducing their HCP thereby awarding 16 bonus points to their Free Agents opponent.
  5. Double Focus and One Way- Upward each had one absence without a HCP impact.
  6. Dave G (a.k.a Goose and already mentioned in the Raffle section above) had his highest score of the season. Oh what a night!
  7. Kevin L returned to action from an extended absence.
  8. Wolff Pack and Scorpions was the first match in this author’s memory that needed no payment envelopes – because both teams were already fully paid in earlier weeks.
  9. Best wishes for returning to usual health are extended to James and to Adrian.
