Noteworthy events from 2024 Spring Week 18 (Party)

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. 24 individuals were paired into 12 teams for the Scotch-Doubles tournament.  The final teams agreed to split the pot evenly. Romy & Fermin (was this League Operator bad-sorry guys) and Kevin C & Dave G! (There was a little glitch when doing the pairing, so again, my apologies!! First time jitters and I’M NOT PAUL!)
    • Romy & Fermin were victorious in the preceding three matches against:
      • Ramiro Gut & Robert S
      • Julian F & Josh G
      • Wes P & Doni B in the semi-finals
    • The team of Kevin C & Dave G (Goose) won their preceding two matches (got a bye in the semi-final) against:
      • Ed S & Bill T
      • Mona T & Chris S (Then the bye)
    • Finals were Romy & Fermin against Kevin C & Goose, which again, they decided to split!

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Nancy K (another apology) was selected. She sank the 2-ball in the corner pocket on Table 11. Made a combo 1-ball to 5-ball in the same pocket as the 2-ball but the cue ball banked into the side pocket. Denied!
  2. Jerry R was also picked. He made the 3-ball into the corner pocket on Table 2. The 1-ball rested in the middle of the head end rail and the cue ball near the spot. He attempted a bank on the 1-ball but the banks were closed. He was unable to cash out.
  3. Since the pot was over the rules-based threshold, a third pick was conducted. Kyle B had his chance, but broke dry.
  4. The entire raffle pot rolls over to next week’s official 2024 Autumn Season sign-up night!

OTHER:

  1. By night’s end, 11 teams were listed on the signup sheets for the 2024 Autumn season, but evidently not everyone heard the sheets were out and available. Next week is official sign-up night to the Open Public, so we’ll expect at least a few more teams to join in then.
  2. The end of season ceremony included the following announcements:
    1. Roy S was the league’s official Top Shooter with an 8.917 points per game average. Larry P, Esteban Q and Scott C were higher but didn’t have enough games to qualify.
    2. Wes P was recognized with the greatest average-per-game percentage improvement (20.56%) when comparing final average to the average heading into Week 01. Adrian P was 2nd at 09.96% and Bob K third at 09.85%.
    3. The Ed White recognition goes to Tim B whose final average was different that his original average by only six hundredths of 1% (0.06%)
    4. Other stats from this season:
      • 100 of our 105 rostered players had at least one week played, and 23 people played all 17 possible weeks.
      • We had 6 players make their league debuts. Shout out to Kacey A, John C and Roberto E, all from Vatos Locos, Francisco M from Stanley Steamers, Alex T from Last Game and Bob M from Creepy Bullys.
      • 23 different people were selected in the raffle draws this season.
        • Jimmy S had the most with four and Ramiro Gut and Romy G were picked 3 times.
        • There were 6 different cash-outs totaling over forty-seven hundred bucks.  Jimmy S had the largest prize.
  3. The league operator has no prize money left over, so contact your team captain if you didn’t collect your prize money yet.
  4. Eleven 18″ pizzas were served and two tiny pieces remained at the night’s end.
  5. A Scotch Doubles Tournament goes much faster with the much-improved modified rule 24 limiting one timeout per game per team.  There is still room for improvement, especially with the new Interim League Operator!!
