Noteworthy events from 2023 Spring Week 11

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Paul S and Mark D each had 77.
  2. Mike M shot a 76.
  3. Lito G scored 75.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Tim B sank the 4-ball on his Table 08 break shot.  When the cue-ball stopped rolling it was approximately 3 millimeters away from the 1-ball.
    • Both were in the kitchen near the NW rail and pointing a little off-center of the 2-ball which was in the way of the south side pocket.
    • The 5-ball was nearby a little bit east and the 9-ball was much further down table about the same distance off the NE rail as the cue-ball.
    • Tim made a good hit on the 1 with a plan to carom off the NW rail into the 5 to generate as many collisions thereafter as possible.
    • That worked, but no balls were sunk.
  2. Frank C was selected.  It may sound familiar, but he sank the 4-ball on his Table 10 break. That’s where the similarity ends.
    • The cue-ball was a few inches west of the north side pocket and even less distance south of the NW rail. The 1-ball was near the headspot.
    • Other object balls gave the impression of interfering with a clean hit, but Frank wielded a perfect strike dropping the 1-ball into the SE corner.
    • The cue-ball caromed off the east rail back to the foot of the table in great shapes for the 2-ball in the south side pocket.
    • He made that and cashed out for one third of the available pot.
  3. The remaining pot rolls over to Week 12.

OTHER:

  1. For the 2nd consecutive week, former teammates Mike B and Mona T are exactly tied in the individual standings. But 6th place this week instead of 8th place last week.
  2. Free Agents only had two players this week which caused them a 15-point penalty.  Their team handicap variance also awarded their opponent (Wolff Pack) a benefit of 16 additional points.
  3. Absences on two other teams (Should Be Out and The Breakup) had no HCP impact.
  4. One additional absence occurred very late in the evening with Robert S needing to leave with one match still not played.  The rule 21.B therefore applied and teammate Tony L played those two games.  Opponent Ed S won both games for a total score of 20-12.  NOTE: The league wishes Robert a safe and complete recovery.
  5. Natalie made her debut as a server on our league night.
