Noteworthy events from 2023 Summer Week 15

Outstanding outing(s):

  1. Fermin A achieved the only perfect 80.
  2. Romy G shot the only 76.
  3. Scott C and Matt S each tallied 75.

RAFFLE Status:

  1. Lito G was picked for the first time this season.  He provided a dry break on Table 09, but the 5-ball almost dropped.
  2. Edgar A didn’t miss the 5-ball on his Table 03 break. Sank it into SW corner.
    • The cue-ball was very near the 1-ball which was very near the 9-ball – all in the kitchen.
    • Edgar chose the north side pocket as the best target for the 1.  His cue tip smacked the cue-ball with authority and the 1 dropped with no problem.
    • The cue-ball caromed softly off the southeast rail near the side pocket.
    • The 2-ball situated itself just off the NW corner.  Edgar sank it and set up perfectly for the 3-ball in the NE corner.
    • He sank it and immediately cashed out for 4/9ths of the available pot.
  3. The remainder is available for Week 16’s party night.

OTHER:

  1. Double Focus had a BYE week and couldn’t add to their point total.  They finished first anyway in the overall season standings.  Congratulations!!
  2. Last Game had a team member lose the league’s last game of the season, but they still leap-frogged two teams into 2nd place in the overall standings with a 333 point night.
  3. Congratulations to Julian F who held onto the overall League Top Shooter status despite only scoring 64 tonight.  Using “only” with 64 seems silly, but he scored better than that every other week this season except one.
  4. One Party Penguins roster absence awarded an 8 point bonus to their opponent Pocket Rattlers by virtue of rule 20.E.
  5. Tony L closed the final game of the season by making a fine slice of the 8-ball from his kitchen into the SW corner pocket.
  6. NOTE: 2023 Summer Week 16 (next week) is our party night and will include pizza, another 9-ball runout raffle, one tournament ($10 entry fee), and season-end prizes… all for league members only.
