Noteworthy events from Winter 2021 Signup Night

We had twelve players in person on this weather-deterrent night.  Still, they mustered seven and one half teams into existence on the signup for the Winter 2021 season.

Captains gathered for a brief meeting about rule change considerations.

Key points and changes resulting from the meet:

  1. Agreement to remain unsanctioned – none opposed.
  2. League officers identified in Rule 22 were replaced by three players (Jerry W, Jon W, and Wes P) who are registered on our current signup sheets.
  3. Rule 6B was changed to enforce that a player who arrives after 8:30pm disqualifies that player from playing league games on that night.  Non-negotiable.
  4. Ironically, rule 20A was changed such that a team who has fewer than two players by 7:45pm will only be considered forfeited for the night if the opposing team chooses it.
  5. Venue Rule 7.F (regarding jump shots as forbidden) remains unchanged, even though an exception scenario was requested during the meeting.
  6. The season is scheduled to begin on Thursday 11Feb2021.  The League Operator must be contacted no later than Tuesday 09Feb2021::8pm if any roster additions or alterations are sought.  If we remain as 7 or 8 teams, the final night is scheduled to be on 01Apr2021.  If we get to 9 or 10 teams, it would schedule to end on 15Apr2021 instead.
  7. Open sub-slot filling is permitted through week 03 by virtue of rule 19B.
  8. There are two people (Lew M and Julian F) who are listed on the Teamless signup sheet for now.  They are therefore potentially available if another pair of individuals is interested to join a team.  Another possibility is to invite them into open sub spots or to fill vacancies that arise between now and Tuesday’s deadline.

Raffle Status:

  1. Brian S was the first selection of the new season.  He made one on the break.  The cue ball and 1-ball were positioned invitingly for a bank shot to the north side pocket.  Brian attempted it and missed.
  2. Julian sank two balls on the break and had great shape on the 2-ball.  He chose to follow the easy south side pocket target to set up for a north side 3-ball deposit.  It all worked.  The setup on the 4-ball was ok and Julian pondered it for awhile.  He got into shooting position twice, but finally chose to cash out.
  3. The remaining pot (still appealing, by the way) rolls over to opening night of the season.
